LIMA

Police officers arrested a man Monday afternoon after a high-speed chase through the city at speeds that exceeded 60 mph.

Lima Police Department Lt. Jim Baker said the pursuit began at about 1:10 p.m. Monday. Police officials said they attempted to pull over a white 1992 Chevrolet Caprice driven by Christopher R. Williams, 21, of Lima, in a school zone near Greenlawn Avenue and Kibby Street, when he fled.

Williams told police he fled because he didn't have a driver license. However, police officials said he had an active warrant from Lima Municipal Court for failure to comply.

Williams was charged with willfully fleeing police, resisting arrest and obstructing official business.
