Man shot on birthday
Comments 0 | Recommend 0LIMA - A Lima man received an unwanted birthday gift Sunday. The man was shot a couple of times in his legs and ankles. Police were looking for an acquaintance who detectives said was the suspected triggerman.
Police were called to St. Rita's Medical Center on Sunday afternoon after the hospital received the shooting victim. Lima Police Department Detective Timothy Clark said the shooting actually took place in the 600 block of Madison Avenue.
"It was apparently an argument between two subjects. One of them drew a gun and started shooting at the other one," Clark said. "The other one was hit a couple of times in the lower extremities like legs and ankle."
Clark said the victim, Gregory B. McDowell, 29, told investigators he had been involved in a long-standing dispute with the suspect, Ali O. Allen, 21. McDowell told police the argument had been going on for so long that he couldn't remember what it was about, Clark said.
Police were still looking for Allen Monday afternoon, Clark said. An arrest warrant for felonious assault was issued for Allen.
McDowell was recovering at St. Rita's Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition Monday, a nursing supervisor said.
