This year's Irish Parade coming together
LIMA - No blarney, its time yet again for the city's Irish Parade.
The 17th incarnation of the popular parade will embark at noon March 14 from the corner of Robb Avenue and Main Street.
Darby Bourk, parade co-chair, said it's a good chance to stick it to cabin fever.
"People have the winter blahs, people are ready to get out and do something. If we get some nice weather, it's a bonus."
This year's grand marshals will be Mike and Kay Casey.
"They've helped out with this parade for a long time. Kay has been a long-time secretary, so we just thought it was nice to honor them this year," Bourk said.
So far, there are 47 confirmed entrants. Bourk said they expect the usual number of 80 to 100, depending on the weather.
Participants may join the parade roster until the day of the parade. Those interested may call 567-712-7743 to register.
"It's always family-oriented," Bourk said. "Everybody can come. It costs nothing to be in the parade."
Irish Parade shirts are also available for preorder at the Knights of Columbus, Mulligan's Paddy Macs, Murph's Place and Lombardo's Cafe.
