SANDUSKY, Ohio – The rides and roller coasters of Cedar Point were aglow with Christmas lights of a different kind this past weekend. On Saturday night, United Airlines held their annual Fantasy Flight, a charitable event where local children with life threatening illnesses and their families board a plane from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and fly to the “North Pole.”
Along the flight, the children and their families were treated to a flyby of downtown Cleveland and Cedar Point before returning back to the airport and arriving at a gate decorated as Santa’s Winter Wonderland. Throughout the year Cedar Point actively participates in numerous charitable events and fundraisers.
Over the past two years, Cedar Point and its guests have helped raise more than $650,000 for charities such as the American Red Cross, United Way, Cleveland Clinic Children’s and the Arthritis Foundation. In addition, the park has donated nearly $1,000,000 worth of tickets to organizations such as The Arc of Ohio, Give Kids The World and others.
