DEFIANCE — Those car enthusiasts who love their muscle cars can appreciate a fine model when they see it. The 1968 Buick Gran Sport is such a beauty that those who love their muscle cars will stop and stare. Buick developed a new body for the 1968-1969 Buick Gran Sport. Front ends had a clean appearance, with a longer hood and shorter deck. There was a deep-sculptured body sweep line arcing across the body before it came to a halt at the rear wheel opening. There were new taillights too. The Buick Skylark Gran Sport was a success with this new look, setting sales records in 1968. The 1968 Buick Skylark “California GS” model was available only in … you guessed it, California. This was a Gran Sport model with California trim and decals. Buick representatives used the words, “Clean. Fresh. Masculine.” when touting the new Buick Skylark Gran Sport in 1968.
Glenn Vinz, of Defiance, brought this 1968 Buick California Gran Sport to The Lima News’ Real Wheels Cruise-In. He had only owned it for three weeks at the time. What a timeless beauty he has in this car.
