In the book of Isaiah 1, we find a multitude of vital information from the Lord for the church today. We notice that these Scriptures are directed to the church, not to those outside of the church. In verse 4, the church is referred to as a sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the Lord they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.
In verse 5, He speaks about the fact that the whole head is sick. He is specifically speaking about the leaders in the church that are sick. If the head is sick, the body is sick. In this season, the Lord is working to heal the leadership of the church so the body can be healed. He goes on to say the whole heart is faint. In other words, in the hearts of the leaders there is no faith, no confidence in the almighty God, the trust is so low. Instead of total trust in the Lord, leaders are trusting in people, in the weekly tithes and offerings.
In verse 6, he says that from the sole of the foot even unto the head, there is no soundness in it; but wounds and bruises and putrefying sores: they have not been closed neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment. He is speaking about all of the wounded people in the church which have not been healed because of as lack of anointing.
God really does not care how well you preach, teach, sing, as the gifts and callings are without repentance. It is the anointing that destroys the yokes of bondage. It is not good preaching and teaching that brings liberty and freedom, the people of God must stop following the gifts and begin to follow the anointing and the presence of God, not the hype of emotions, but rather the awesome presence of the Living God.
The Lord goes on to say that if it were not for a very small remnant He would destroy the whole earth (verse 9). In other words, if it were not for those in the church who Yadah God (to know God intimately) — those who have refused to quit, give in, give up, those who have suffered for the sake of the Gospel, suffered at the hand of the terrorists in the church. These are worse than Al Qaeda, but the weapons are different. The church terrorists use the mouths and tongues in defaming one another, character assassinations, gossip and back biting.
He goes on to say I hate your church services. He says that it is iniquity — even the solemn assemblies — because of how you have been treating one another, talking about one another all in the name of love. God hates it and goes on the say that, when you pray, I will not even hear your prayers. The Lord is saying, I would rather you did not even have a church service, if you do not stop treating one another poorly, if you do not stop destroying the character of your sisters and brothers, smiling in the faces while talking about one another behind their backs. It is all sin.
In verse 6, He is asking us to come reason together and wash ourselves and put away all of the evil. We have one commandment, to love the Lord thy God, and our neighbor as ourselves. Please do not tell me that you love me, while at the same time you are tearing me down behind my back. That is not the love of God. God is searching for the pure love of God, that only comes from spending quality time in the presence of the Lord. The church cannot give something that they do not have. There are two churches, the pure church and the counterfeit church. God is coming back for the pure church without spot or blemish. Which are you a part of?
