BLUFFTON — Bluffton University will host the Lima Symphony Orchestra for a “Mozart by Candlelight” concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, with a second concert to be held at Lima’s Trinity United Methodist Church Saturday, Jan. 25. Thursday’s performance will be the Pearl Bogart Mann Memorial Piano Recital, part of the university’s Artist Series for this year.
Part of what will make this concert in Bluffton special is that Dr. Lucia Unrau, a professor of music at Bluffton University since 1994, will perform with the symphony. Elizabeth Brown, the executive director for the Lima Symphony Orchestra, was very excited to have someone of Unrau’s musical caliber perform with the symphony.
“She is a brilliant piano soloist who has performed all over the country and chose to settle in this area,” Brown said. “She’ll be performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 with the orchestra, and we’re really excited about that. We have such rich talent in this area.”
This will not be the first time Unrau has performed with the symphony.
“She also performed with us at the Baroque by Candlelight performance in September,” Brown said. “She has an authentic harpsichord and played it during the concert. She’ll be playing a more traditional piano this time.”
