VAN WERT — It promises to be a night of grace and beauty Tuesday as the State Ballet Theatre of Russia performs “Cinderella” at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Van Wert. Having a professional ballet company from Russia perform in this area will give local audiences a glimpse into some of the world’s top ballet dancers.
They have come before and done a performance, but this is the first time for them doing ‘Cinderella,’” Tafi Stober, the marketing director at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center, said. “We have fine ballet in this region, but I think this raises it to even another notch of refinement, so I myself am looking forward to seeing that difference and the fine polish of the movement.”
Stober emphasized that hosting this performance not only provides entertainment, but it can also inspire the next generation of dancers.
“Having this genre here has been popular,” she said. “A lot of local dance studios with young, budding dancers, are excited to come and see this.”
To that end, the ballet will also hold a performance for elementary students in the Van Wert area.
“It will give a lot of students who wouldn’t have had access to come the opportunity to see this,” Stober said.
For Stober, this performance is a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages to enjoy not only a beautiful form of dance, but also the classic tale of Cinderella.
“This is a real family event,” she said. “It will bring this story to life. It’ll be almost magical and I think people will find themselves living it out.”
