BEAVERDAM —The Ford Gran Torino was an intermediate automobile produced by Ford Motor Company between 1968 and 1976. It was initially an upscale version of the Ford Fairlane. 1973 was a successful year for the Gran Torino with 496,581 units sold. The Torino outsold its main competition, the Chevy Chevelle, by more than 168,000 units. The 1972 Ford Gran Torino Sport was featured in the movie Gran Torino, directed by and starring Clint Eastwood.
