LIMA — Despite being just over a month from Christmas, dedicated runners will test their mettle Sunday at the Kewpee/YMCA 10K Race, part of a series of races held throughout the year.
“We hold four races a year that are all part of what we call our Kewpee Race Series,” Brian Kirk, health and wellness coordinator for the Lima Family YMCA said. “It’s about inviting the community to be part of something outside our doors.”
This race will use the Rotary River Walk and run, taking runners from the YMCA to Schoonover Lake down to the Collett Street Park and back to the YMCA, where refreshments will await the finishers, along with a medal commemorating their completion of the race.
“The top winner and the top three winners in each age group will get bigger medals for their performance,” Kirk said.
Anyone interested in competing can sign up in advance or on the day of the race at the YMCA.
“We’ve already got around 50 people registered,” Kirk said. “Usually we get a lot of people the day of the race.”
