LIMA — Tickets are free for Lima City School District students who wish to attend Friday's opening game at the new Spartan Stadium against Marion Harding, courtesy of the Union Bank Co.
Bart Mills, marketing officer for Union Bank, announced Wednesday at the mayor's news conference that the bank has not only purchased all of the tickets for the game, but is also partnering with Lima Manor to host a tailgate party for the community. Students who wish to attend will receive free hot dogs and water courtesy of Lima Manor.
“This is our way of helping celebrate a wonderful new stadium and a team and school that makes us proud to be part of the Lima community,” said Vicky Gilbert, vice president and branch manager at Union Bank's Bellefontaine Avenue branch.
The tailgate party will begin at 5 p.m. Friday in the parking lot on the west side of the stadium. Kickoff for the football game will be at 7 p.m. Students who wish to attend the game should pick up tickets before the end of the day Thursday at the athletic director's office. Students will be seated on the visitor's side of the stadium.
