LIMA — Westgate Entertainment Center will host the Summer Sizzlin’ Vendor & Craft Extravaganza from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday to benefit the Equestrian Therapy Program at Fassett Farm in Cridersville.
“I really like helping people and helping kids,” event organizer Kayla Newland said. “The son of one of my friends has autism, so we were originally going to do this event so her son could attend the equestrian therapy program. Certain things then happened and she was unable to do the event with me, so I decided to have the donations just go to the farm. They can just use it for their program or donate it to one or two families that may need help.”
Newland is expecting a large number of vendors to be at Westgate Saturday.
“We’ll probably have between 20 and 25 vendors,” she said. “I currently have 23 that have paid for a spot with about five more saying they will come and pay that day. We have Jewelry and Candles, Avon, Treasure Charm Candles, Jamberry, Tupperware and more. We also have crafters coming in, too, including a lady that does stuffed crochet animals.”
Newland wanted to have other attractions at the event to appeal to the entire family and give customers a chance to walk away with more than just their purchases.
“There will also be face painting going on, and a girl will come and set up a photo booth so kids can get their picture taken,” she said. “We’ll have some giveaways that we’re selling tickets for at $2 apiece. We’ll have a six-month membership to Total Health Solutions and the Toledo Zoo donated a family pack with two adult and two child tickets. Applebees also donated $300 in gift cards, so there will be a lot to give away.”
All the money raised for the Equestrian Therapy Program will come from vendor fees and raffle tickets. Admission is free.
