FINDLAY (AP) — Authorities in northwest Ohio said two people were killed in an early morning small-plane crash.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office said that the crash occurred at about 1:10 a.m. Sunday. Authorities said the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board launched investigations of the single-engine plane crash that killed both people on board.

The Blade newspaper of Toledo reports that the plane crashed into a ditch, along a county road just northeast of the city of Findlay. The falling plane clipped a power line, knocking it down.

The Blade reports that the plane was traveling from Holland, Michigan, to Bluffton, Ohio, near Findlay.

Authorities said the plane carried a male pilot and female passenger. Names of the dead weren’t released pending notification of family.
