The Wauseon Downtown Association invites area residents to join in the fun and excitement of the 6th Annual Wauseon Community Christmas Parade on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. The Wauseon Downtown Association is looking for businesses, churches, community organizations, and even individuals, who would like to get in the Christmas spirit and march or ride on a float in the Christmas Parade.
There is no cost to participate in the parade. To register, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or drop the registration form off at the Wauseon Public Library. To download a registration form, log onto the Wauseon Downtown Association’s Facebook page or web site.
This year, the parade will begin at the courthouse, wander through the downtown area and wrap up at Depot Park. The parade line-up begins at 6 p.m. in the Fulton County Courthouse parking lot. Please enter the parking lot off of W. Chestnut Street, and pull into the lane you are directed.
At 7 p.m., the Christmas Parade kicks off with the lighting of the star at South Park. Then the Wauseon Police Department, Fulton County Honor Guard and Wauseon Fire Department will lead the way down S. Fulton Street to Oak, Clinton and wrap up at the train station in Depot Park. During the parade, music will be provided by the Wauseon High School Marching Indian Band and many lighted and musical floats.
At the end of the parade at Depot Park, the activities will include a community sing-along, led by the Wauseon High School Chorale, pictures with Santa Claus and free cookies and hot chocolate, provided by the Wauseon Downtown Association.

Parade princess, prince
The Wauseon Downtown Association is also looking for a Christmas Parade Prince and Princess for the 6th Annual Wauseon Community Christmas Parade on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m.
“Do you have a child or grandchild who has dreamed about being a prince or princess? If you have, then make sure to pick up a Prince or Princess Parade Contest Form at the Wauseon Public Library,” said Wauseon Downtown Association Secretary and Library Director Amy Murphy. “The contest form is simple. Just tell us why your child or grandchild wants to be the parade prince or princess. The children need to be old enough to ride on the parade float themselves and young enough to still enjoy it, so preferably kindergarten to third grade students.”
“They also need to be willing and available to participate in the Wauseon Downtown Association Christmas Parade on Saturday, Nov. 30. The contest forms may be picked up at the library and are due back to the library by Thursday, Nov. 21.”
The Christmas Parade Prince and Princess would be the “royalty” of the 2013 Christmas Parade. They would ride on their own float through the downtown area and reign over the festivities at the Train Station in Depot Park after the parade.
