Auto accident brings down power line in Van Wert

VAN WERT — A single-vehicle accident caused power outages for more than 100 AEP Ohio customers Saturday night.


At 6:20 p.m. the Van Wert Police Department responded to the 10000 block of South Washington Street, where a vehicle had collided with a power pole, toppling it over. The toppled line caused 139 AEP Ohio customers to lose power, according to the AEP Ohio website. No injuries were reported, and neither the details of the accident nor the identity of the driver were released Saturday evening.


As of 8:35 p.m. Saturday, AEP Ohio crews were still on site working to restore power.
