HARROD - The Allen East Local School District has applied for the Straight A Grant from the Ohio Department of Education.

This grant is highly competitive and will be awarded to schools that use new approaches to meeting the learning needs of students, reducing the cost of running the school district and driving more money into the classroom. Superintendent Michael Richards is hoping to use money from the grant, should the district be awarded, to initiate energy saving initiatives in the district, using the energy savings to maintain and upgrade the school’s technology.

Treasurer Rhonda Zimmerly and information technology specialist Nathan Redmond assisted Richards in writing the grant application. The grant recipients will be chosen in early December.
