LIMA — A man bent on having repairs made to a railroad crossing is planning a rally at the crossing Friday to bring more attention to it.
John Bowker is planning the rally for 2:30 p.m. for people to sign a petition and protest the condition of the tracks at the North Cable Road crossing just south of Elida Road. The rally will be in the parking lot of the Fairfield Inn.
Bowker has threatened to file a lawsuit over the crossing which he said is so bad cars must nearly come to a stop while crossing to avoid damage to vehicles. Bowker has pushed local, state and federal government officials to have the cross fixed. He also has asked the railroad company that owns it to fix it.
The crossing is owned by Genesee & Wyoming Inc. which the company obtained it last year. Company officials said in November they are planning to fix it.
