Motorcyclist injured in crash

PANDORA - A Fostoria man was injured when he crashed his motorcycle into the side of a pickup truck pulling a landscape trailer late Monday afternoon.

Putnam County Sheriff James Beutler said Gregory Bohanon, 52, of Fostoria, was flown to St. Rita's Medical Center shortly after the crash around 4:20 p.m. Bohanon had burns from the road and other injuries after he crashed his Harley-Davidson into the trailer because he was following too closely and not paying attention.

Bohanon was eastbound on Road R, between Roads 3 and 4, southeast of Pandora, when he failed to see a truck pulling a trailer turning in front of him and struck it.

A spokeswoman with St. Rita's said Bohanon was listed in serious condition late Monday.

The driver of the truck, Steven Amstutz, 51, of Pandora, is a local schoolteacher who does landscaping work during the summer. Beutler said the trailer had lawn equipment in it.

He said Bohanon's bike skidded leaving marks on the road when he tried to stop.

After the collision, he said, he was thrown from the bike.

The sheriff said Bohanon was not wearing a helmet.
