LIMA — For the second straight day, the top two teams in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference split a doubleheader.
The University of Northwestern Ohio won the first game, 9-5, while Davenport won the second game, 4-3, Sunday at UNOH.
It marked the final home game of the year for the Racers. First-place Davenport remains 2 1/2 games in front of second-place UNOH.
Davenport is 27-14, 14-5 in the WHAC. UNOH is 22-14, 10-6 in the WHAC.
In the first game, UNOH’s Jose Cruz, who played for the Lima Locos last summer, went 2 for 5 with a home run and five RBIs. It was his fourth home run of the year. Brett Akins went 3 for 4. Zyler Cosby was 1 for 3 with two RBIs. Randal Muhlenkamp (Coldwater) went 1 for 2 with an RBI.
Former Locos right-hander Ruben Medina started for UNOH, but was not involved with the decision. He went 5 2/3 innings and gave up four runs, all earned, on nine hits. He struck out two and walked two. Josh Luatua picked up the win with 1 2/3 shutout innings to close it out.
In the second game, Davenport’s Corey Murphy tossed a complete-game 4-3 victory. He gave up three runs, all earned, on eight hits. He struck out four and walked none.
For the Racers, Cosby went 2 for 4. Alex Leach was 2 for 3. Cruz was 1 for 2 with an RBI.

LIMA —Michigan-Dearborn swept a doubleheader from the University of Northwestern Ohio Sunday at UNOH.
Michigan-Dearborn won the first game, 4-3. UNOH third baseman Kelly Merkle went 2 for 4. Designated hitter Kayley Keller went 2 for 3 with an RBI.
In the second game, Merkle went 4 for 4 with three RBIs. Kelly Kirkpatrick went 2 for 2. Alyssa McQueen went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Casey Yingst went 2 for 4 with an RBI. Camille Martin (Bath) went 1 for 2 with an RBI.
UNOH is 13-17, 1-11 in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference. Michigan-Dearborn is 15-21, 4-8 in the WHAC.
