LIMA - University of Northwestern Ohio students are collecting school supplies for families affected by the tornado that struck Moore, Okla., in May. The tornado destroyed thousands of homes and two elementary schools. The Business Professionals of America and the UNOH Chapter of the American Marketing Chapter wanted to help, according to a written statement from the university.

Bins have been set up at businesses in the community to collect items through Aug. 8. The wish list includes school items such as pencil and pens, crayons, scissors, glue, notebooks, folders, paper, gallon-sized Ziploc bags, baby wipes, book bags and teaching supplies.

The collection bins are at the Tom Ahl dealerships, Huntington Banks, Taylor Kia and UNOH campus. Additional drop offs will occur July 26 at Limaland Motorsports Park; July 28 at Lima Locals Baseball game and Aug. 10 at the UHOH Event Center between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
