Factory fire keeps firefighters busy in Delphos

DELPHOS — An early morning fire shut down operations at a cellulose insulation manufacturer in Delphos on Monday.Chief Dave McNeal, of the Delphos Fire Department, said firefighters were called to Green Fiber, 1601 Gressel Drive, shortly after 4 a.m. No one was inside the building at the time of the blaze. As of Monday afternoon, there were no injuries to firefighters battling the blaze.“There was smoke throughout the building and fire in the one end of the building when our guys got there,” McNeal said. “We’re still there trying to work on it. It’s under control. We probably got it under control about 10 a.m.”No one was inside the building at the time the fire broke out, McNeal said.“At this point, we don’t know what started the fire,” he said.Firefighters from Middle Point, Van Wert, American Township, Fort Jennings and Ottoville were called to provide mutual aid at the scene, McNeal said. The blaze shut down the business, he said.McNeal said investigators had not yet determined a cause.The blaze remains under investigation, he said.You can comment on this story online at
