GLANDORF — Bryony Mason, of Cranwell, England, is hoping Kate Middleton gives birth to the royal baby Sunday. If she does, Mason and the royal baby will share the same birthday.
Mason, a coach with the Challenger Sports British Soccer Camp, has been coaching in Glandorf this week. On Friday she spoke to the children about life in England. Using a book with pictures of the palace and other sites in England, Mason asked the children who was in line to be the next king. The children shook their heads.
“It’s Prince Charles,” she said. “He has a son, William, who is then next in line to be king,” Mason explained telling the children Prince William’s wife is expecting their first child.
“Everyone thinks the baby will be born on Saturday,” Mason said. “I’m hoping for Sunday so we can have the same birthday.”
Mason and three other coaches with the Challenger Sports British Soccer Camp have been helping 45 children ages 3 to 16 from Putnam County learn basic soccer skills.
The 19-year old British resident said this is the first year she has taken part in the soccer camp.
“There are over 1,000 coaches teaching students in the United States right now and over 90 coaches in Ohio,” Mason said. The coaches stay with local host families while teaching at the soccer camp.
