LIMA — A Lima convenience store was robbed Monday morning for the third time in less than eight months.
A clerk at the Circle K convenience store at the corner of North West Street and Brower Road was assaulted and robbed by a masked man early Monday, according to a spokesman at the Lima Police Department. The clerk did not require medical attention.
The robber entered the store at about 2 a.m. wearing a dark ski mask and long, belted black vinyl- or leather-hooded coat. He jumped over the counter, struck the clerk and fled with cash from the drawer, police officials said. He did not use a weapon in the robbery.
Police were looking for the robber, who was also wearing a red shirt, black pants with a white, vertical stripe and brown gloves.
The same store was robbed twice on the same night, by the same man, in December. Darby Scarberry, 45, was later arrested for those robberies. In February, the Allen County Regional Bomb Squad was called out to the store after someone found what police officials called a suspicious package. It turned out to be a briefcase.
