LIMA — Despite only knowing Ronnie Daley for three years, Jim Edwards says their friendship has made a big impact.

Edwards is helping organize a benefit show for Daley, who’s facing a life-threatening illness. There will be nine bands and a comedy troupe performing at Louie’s Nite Club, 518 N. Main St., Lima. “Rockin 4 Ronnie” begins at 2 p.m. and will continue throughout the evening.

“We had to turn away entertainment because so many have offered and volunteered. The support has been amazing,” Edwards said.

The bands are the Dave Liles Band, Spaz with Kevin Ashba, Kat Brennan, Zach Laffin Band, Purple Overcoat, Gracious Sin, Stink Pipe, Never Again and Acedown Band. LimaLand Comedy also will perform. An all-day pass costs $5.

Daley doesn’t like being the center of attention, Edwards said; the money will go towards Daley's medical costs.

“He doesn’t like people to fawn over him,” Edwards said.

The two met at Louie’s, where Daley worked for a long time. Daley’s grandfather opened the restaurant, Edwards said.

There will also be a raffle, 50/50, a T-shirt sale and door prizes. Custer and Sons will be providing chicken dinners for $8 each.

Edwards is hoping to raise at least $20,000 for Daley.

“We are so grateful to the Lima community that’s going to make this huge,” Edwards said.
