OTTAWA — Travis Jerwers had no trouble turning back Ronald Diemer in the Republican primary for Putnam County Commissioner, winning by a 2-to-1 margin.Jerwers received 3,542 votes, or 65 percent, compared to 1,881 for Diemer.November's General Election will see Jerwers facing Democrat candidate Mark Schmiedebush and Independent candidate Michael Lammers.Jerwers said he is pleased with the support he received. “I plan to continue to work as a servant of the county,” Jerwers said. “I did a lot of door-to-door campaigning these last two months.”In the other commissioner race, Republican Vincent Schroeder ran unopposed. He will face Barry Woodyard, of Ottawa, who has filed as an Independent candidate.Incumbent Democrat Sheriff Jim Beutler ran unopposed in the primary and will face Republican challenger Michael Chandler, who also was unopposed.Candidates who had no opposition in either the primary or general election include Republican Tracy Warnecke, treasurer; Republican Anna Horstman, coroner; Republican Terrence Recker, engineer; Democrat Gary Lammers, prosecuting attorney; Democrat Teresa Lammers, clerk of courts; and Democrat Michael Borer, unexpired term juvenile/probate judge.
