LIMA ó The Lima Elks Lodge No. 54 awarded Student of the Year honors Thursday to Nicole Ann Joseph, of Lima Central Catholic High School. She received a $1,000 scholarship at the lodgeís annual youth banquet.



The daughter of Ralph and Lisa Joseph, Nicole is a member of the National Honor Society, Math National Honor Society, Student Council, Math Club, Quiz Bowl and Science Olympiad. She has been active in dance, choir and theater, and she plays the piano.



She has volunteered in her church and in the community. After receiving her bachelorís degree, Nicole plans to attend medical school and pursue a career as a pathologist.



The following students were recognized for being students of the month throughout the school year: Sienna Gerdeman, of Columbus Grove; Bryce Ringwald, of Spencerville; Nicole Joseph, of Lima Central Catholic; Jessica Recker, of Delphos St. Johnís; Lindsey Wisher, of Elida; Brandon Miller, of Wapakoneta; Nicholas Walther, of Pandora-Gilboa; Corinne Metzger, of Delphos Jefferson; Kaitlyn Stechschulte, of Fort Jennings; Nicholas Schmeising, of Columbus Grove; Cassidy Bowman, of Lima Senior; Evan Stant, of Delphos Jefferson; Taylor Wohlgamuth and Nicole Brown, of Wapakoneta; Seth Loftis, of Elida; and Haley Grigsby, of Columbus Grove.



The following students were essay contest winners: Wesley Garcia, Aubree Schroeder and Clarissa Plassman, of Leipsic; and Kaitlyn Price, Enoch Jones and Kylie Coffey, of Columbus Grove.



Seth Loftis, Lindsey Wisher, Nicole Brown and Nicholas Schmiesing won Most Valuable Student scholarships. Educational Fund Grants went to Shanna German, Brandon Smiley, Jacob Lowry, Jordan Rex and Katie Schmitz.



Hoop Shoot Winners were Emma Leis, Nelaya Burden, Jonathan Weichart and Jacob Probst, of Spencerville; Kayla Wicker, of Waynesfield; and Conner Ruck, of Miller City-New Cleveland.



Soccer Shoot winners are Leuviah Blackma and Malik Blackma, of Harrod; and Briana Snyder, Camden Howard, Ryan McGuire and Ethan Thomas, of Lima.
