LIMA — A black shadow, the smell of smoke and light rain were all that remained after an early morning fire destroyed a house on McPheron Avenue on Tuesday.
Lima Fire Department responded around 2:30 a.m. to 439 McPheron Avenue for a home that was fully engulfed in flames, Lima fire officials said.
The resident was not home at the time, he was at work, officials said. There were no injuries or fatalities. The house was inhabitable and was set for demolition.
Firefighters on the scene said the resident was “distraught, very upset about the loss of his house.”
The owner of the home is Michael Graves, according to the Allen County Auditor’s website. It valued the house and property at $46,500.
Lima fire officials said the Red Cross offered him aid.
The cause of the fire was unknown Tuesday morning. Fire investigators did not believe the fire was suspicious.
