LIMA — The trial for a teenager charged with murder in the killing of another teen last summer has been moved to Aug. 23.Ritchie Johnson, 17, waived his right to a speedy trial Thursday to allow his attorney more time to prepare his defense. Johnson is charged in the Aug. 30 shooting death of 16-year-old Eric Armstead. The shooting stemmed from an ongoing feud with Armstead and the teens involved in the shooting. Two teens left a car to fire the gun while three stayed back in the car that was used to flee after the shooting.Status of the others charged:Dederic Matthews Jr., 15, is the alleged triggerman. He is facing a charge of murder as an adult. He is scheduled to stand trial July 18.Devontae Upshaw, 16, pleaded guilty to murder under a blended sentencing scheme that could keep his case in the juvenile system. He was sentenced to a prison for children until his 21st birthday but should he get in trouble before his sentence expires he can face the charge as an adult, which carries a possible life sentence. Upshaw left the car with Matthews and was with him when the gun was fired, a prosecutor said.Shaquille Bulls, 17, has his case pending at Allen County Juvenile Court. Prosecutors have agreed to not try him as an adult in exchange for his testimony against his co-defendants.Xavier Arrick, 19, was the only teen who was an adult at the time of the slaying. He is charged with complicity to murder and is scheduled to go on trial Aug. 1.
