LIMA -- Officials from the West Central Ohio Drug Task Force and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification raided a methamphetamine lab east of Lima late Wednesday.

Walter Huffer, 32, and Rhower Ward, 28, were arrested and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine after the lab was discovered in a mobile home at 124 Pilgrim Trail, according to the task force.

An Allen County sheriff’s deputy discovered the lab while responding to a complaint.

Meth-lab equipment was found May 26 in a home at 860 S. Nixon Ave. in Lima and meth-making equipment was found in a car stopped along Interstate 75 near Wapakoneta in February.

Methamphetamine operations are not common in Lima, where crack cocaine is the drug of choice, according to Sgt. Matt Treglia with the Allen County Sheriff’s Office. Before the Nixon Avenue lab, it had been nearly two years since one was found.
