900 block of Rice Avenue, Lima — On Saturday, a 56-year-old woman reported to the Lima Police Department that her 45-year-old neighbor was repeatedly calling her by a racial epithet during a heated argument. According to the report, he also threatened to shoot her. The woman’s 29-year-old daughter came outside, and he apparently grabbed a copper chain from his pocket and began swinging it. The daughter then took a two-by-four block of wood and struck the man with it, after reportedly telling her that it was his right to call her a racial epithet.
500 block of Prospect Avenue, Lima — On Sunday morning, a 55-year-old woman reported to LPD that her 49-year-old brother assaulted her after locking her out of the house. When police arrived at the residence, they attempted to take the man into custody. He resisted them and grabbed a knife from a nearby kitchen counter. Police then forced him to the floor, all while still refusing to comply. Officers used a stun gun on the man, because they were unsure of whether he was still holding the knife. The man was taken into police custody on several charges.
631 N. Cable Road, Lima — A Speedway employee reported to LPD that someone stole a Children’s Miracle Network donation jar that contained about $35 in dollar bills and loose change Sunday morning. The theft was recorded on a video surveillance system.
1600 block of South Main Street, Lima — An 80-year-old man was being treated at St. Rita’s Medical Center for a self-inflicted gunshot wound late Friday. An LPD officer followed up with the incident.
200 block of West Pearl Street, Beaverdam — On Sunday, officers from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched in reference to a man attempting to harm himself.
1600 block of West Market Street, Lima — On Saturday afternoon, a 35-year-old woman reported that her global tracking device was stolen from the dashboard of her vehicle. She said there were no signs of forced entry.
400 block of West Market Street, Lima — On Saturday night, a 27-year-old woman reported that her wallet was stolen from her vehicle. Her wallet reportedly included four Social Security cards and a small amount of cash.
2400 Harding Highway, Lima — On Saturday, a Walmart employee reported to the Allen County Sheriff’s Office that there was a shoplifter.
