LIMA — A pair of up-and-coming teen performers will be in concert at the Allen County Fair in August, the fair announced on its Facebook page Wednesday night.

Austin Mahone and Bridgit Mendler will perform in a Saturday concert at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 17. Tickets go on sale for that concert at 9 a.m. April 6.

“These are two real super-duper hot stars,” said David F. Grimm, general manager of the Allen County Fair. “They are big names, right in the teen market, and we’re lucky to have the two on the stage on the same night.”

Mahone is a pop singer who became popular in 2011 with viral videos of his performances. His songs include “11:11” and “Say Somethin.” He was an opening act on Taylor Swift’s Red Tour. Mahone has a new single out with Flo Rida called “Say You’re Just a Friend.”

Mendler stars in the Disney television show “Good Luck Charlie” as Teddy Duncan. Her songs include “Ready or Not” and “Summertime,” as well as having a number of songs on the “Lemonade Mouth” soundtrack.

“To have one of these stars would be big, but to have both in one night is over the top,” Grimm said.

The Allen County Fair is continuing to tap into the teen market with fair entertainment, following performances by Nickelodeon stars Victoria Justice last year and a sellout crowd at Big Time Rush in 2011.

“Having Austin and Bridgit is in keeping with our board of director’s desire to book big-name entertainment,” Grimm said, “and this show continues the string of top teen acts at the fair.”

Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. April 6 on allencountyfairtickets.com, at the fair admission office or by calling 419-228-7141. Tickets cost $43 for the AAA section closest to the front or $39 for other seats. Ticket prices don’t include fair admission.

Last week, the fair announced Josh Turner and Thompson Square would perform Aug. 18, the day after the teen acts take the stage. Tickets go on sale for that concert at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The Allen County Fair runs Aug. 16-24 and drew nearly 190,000 people last year.
