VAN WERT — The Van Wert Fire Department spent nearly six hours battling a fire at TL Express Saturday afternoon. Fire officials are calling the trucking company, located at 1258 Industrial Ave., a total loss.

A worker at a nearby factory noticed smoke coming from the building at 12:21 p.m. Capt. Craig King said the fire started in an office area on the north side of the building. It was fully involved when crews arrived.

“Smoke and flames were already through the roof,” he said.

The company was closed and no one was injured. The cause of the fire has not been determined. King said the State Fire Marshal has been contacted and will begin investigating Monday.

Crews were on the scene until just after 6 p.m. Middle Point Firefighters assisted in manning the Van Wert station while crews were at the fire.
