LIMA — Square Fair will be a little shorter this year, but organizers say the summer event will still pack a mighty punch.Entertainment at this year’s bash will be a blend of country and rock. McGuffey Lane is set to headline Aug. 5. Rocker Eddie Money will close out the Saturday night show on Aug. 6, according to Dennis Baker, vice president of Square Fair.“It will be the first festival Red Eye Reunion tour will be in Lima,” Baker said of the McGuffey Lane appearance. The name pays homage to the band’s roots as the house band at Zachariah’s Red Eye Saloon in Columbus in the late 1970s and early 1980s, according to the band’s website.Baker said Tuesday there will be some changes to this year’s event. The Thursday night concert, which had traditionally been a blues concert, has been eliminated. It will be replaced by A Toast to the City, which in prior years was held on Wednesdays. The toast will begin three days of festivities on Aug. 4.Baker said organizers are also making some layout changes for the festival designed to give fairgoers more room.Food vendors will be moved to West Market Street instead of sharing space with the arts and crafts vendors on North Main Street.“It was tight,” Baker said. “You couldn’t move.”The children’s entertainment stage, which used to be along South Main Street, will be relocated to the Rally in the Square stage on North Main Street, Baker said. You can comment on this story at www.limaohio.com.
