LIMA — Lima is celebrating Arbor Day this week with a tree planting, proclamation and celebration as a Tree City USA.
The National Arbor Day Foundation recognized Lima as a Tree City for the 25th straight year, City Forester Del Barton said Wednesday. Mayor David Berger also read a proclamation celebrating Arbor Day.
The city’s Urban Forest Council will plant a tree Friday in honor of the day. The council has planted trees for the past six years, in conjunction with elementary and middle schools in the community. This year, the tree planting will be at St. Charles School.
