Gov. John Kasich has declared this week Ohio Severe Weather Awareness Week.

The week marks the unofficial start to the spring storm season that can bring thunderstorms, lightning, high winds, flooding and an occasional tornado to the region.

The annual statewide tornado drill will be held at 9:50 a.m Wednesday, with EAS announcements on radio and television stations, a special weather message on NOAA weather radios and the sounding of outdoor warning sirens. This early morning test of the sirens will replace the noon test of the sirens that typically occurs on the first Wednesday of every month.
