LIMA — City Council will vote on a new contract Monday for Police Department supervisors that provides 2 percent wage increases for the next three years.
The city and Fraternal Order of Police Gold Unit have a tentative contract that provides the raises in 2013, 2014 and 2015, according to a letter from Mayor David Berger and Human Resources Director Vince Ozier.
The contract also includes increases in employees’ contributions for health care benefits, to 9 percent this year, 10 percent next year and 11 percent in 2015. Also, employees’ deductibles will increase.
The Gold Unit represents sergeants and lieutenants in the department. Council recently approved a contract with the park rangers’ union.
In other business, the council will:
•Hear from Utilities Director Gary Sheely about a sewer collapse. A section of sewer in the 1000 block of North McDonel Street collapsed early in the morning June 8. A vehicle had to be extracted from the hold, Sheely said, but no one was injured. The estimated cost of repairs is $100,000.
•Vote on an amendment to the 2013 budget that includes a $17,500 expense for security upgrades at the Municipal Building.
•Vote on a contract with Hume Supply Inc. to demolish the building at 1048 E. Elm St.
•Vote on authorizing a donation of bicycles to the YMCA Iron Riders Program. Some of the abandoned bicycles found by police will be donated for the new teen bike program.
•Vote on a resolution of appreciation for Dr. John Snyder, who is retiring from OSU-Lima.
•Vote on liquor permits for Vivache Cuisine at 59 Town Square, Lima Foods at 1590 N. West St., and Dollar General at 1330 Bellefontaine Ave.
