LIMA — Trial for a former county employee accused of keeping her ex-husband on her health insurance policy after their divorce has been postponed until May 10.
Attorneys need more time to prepare for the case involving Crystal Balo. An April 1 hearing was scheduled Tuesday to consider motions in the case and a final pretrial was scheduled for April 27.
Balo, 31, is charged with grand theft by deception, a fourth-degree felony that carries up to 18 months in prison. Balo’s ex-husband, Steven Balo, 39, was convicted of misdemeanor insurance fraud. He was given a 60-day suspended jail sentence. He has paid $5,634 in restitution.
Crystal Balo no longer works for the county. She was fired after an audit of the county’s insurance program.
