LIMA — Starting with a 35-year-old building and reconstructing it into 21st Century, customer-friendly state-of-the-art space isn’t easy or quick.

But customers’ patience has been rewarded with a new 14,000-square-foot building at Reineke Nissan on Cable Road. A grand opening of the facility came Thursday after a year and a half of planning and construction, said Tom Reineke, president of the Reineke Family Dealerships.

Also announced Thursday, Reineke is buying the property to the dealership’s south, currently Keith Jordan’s 10 and Under. Reineke plans to move the Mazda business to the lot. He said the company will have more details about plans for the property at a later date.

The dealership will feature an open house for customers today and Saturday. Some of the new features include a modern showroom in a larger building, a newly installed power station for the all-new Electric Nissan Leaf, a drive through service department and a new waiting area for customers.

“We are excited that renovations are complete because now we can focus on what we do best, and that is to take care of our customers’ vehicle needs,” Reineke said.

The service department now features a “quick service” area, in addition to the new service department located behind the showroom.

“We feel great today, to be able to have this,” Reineke said. “It’s all driven by the needs of our customers in today’s market.”

The larger and upgraded facility comes at an opportune time, Reineke said. Nissan sales are up 35 percent across the country, and in Lima, up 60 percent last month over the same time last year. The car company is also ready to roll out several new products and models.

The family operates Reineke Ford, Inc., in Fostoria, Reineke’s Tiffin Ford-Lincoln, Inc., in Tiffin, Reineke Motors, Inc., Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, in Upper Sandusky, Reineke Mazda, in Lima, Reineke Ford Lincoln, Inc., in Findlay, Reineke Ford Lincoln of Lima, Reineke Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, in North Baltimore.

The Reineke organization was started in 1960 in Fostoria by Bill Reineke Sr., who also attended the grand opening Thursday.
