LIMA — 9:13 a.m., May 1 — Music, music and more music. That’s what it will be this weekend for several area schools competing in the State Choir and Band Music Educators Adjudicated Event at Van Buren and Findlay high schools. Choirs and bands had to do well at the district level to qualify for the state competition. Students have been polishing up their performances in preparation for the Friday and Saturday event. While the best they can earn is a certificate, students and directors take the competition seriously and look forward to earning their bragging rights. “The winners get published in the Ohio Music Educators magazine,” Lima Senior High School choral director Stephen Popa said. “So everybody in the state that is teaching music sees what your choir is doing, sees how you stack up against other choirs in the state.”Read more about this story in Friday's The Lima News.
