Trial date assigned in Lima man's murder case

LIMA - A man charged in a recent murder in Lima has been assigned a Sept. 16 trial date.


Mikel Johnson, 18, also was assigned a second pretrial for Aug. 14. Johnson is charged with aggravated murder in the June 24 slaying of 20-year-old Joshua Davenport. Davenport was shot multiple times in the 700 block of Albert Street in the early morning hours. Police received reports of shots fired and found him in a nearby alley.


Another man, 19-year-old Randell Howard Jr., also was charged with aggravated murder over Davenport’s death.
