OTTAWA ó A former Kalida teacher and coach was sentenced Thursday to six months in jail to run at the same time as his 10 1/2-year prison sentence for sex crimes against students.

Jeremy Stober, 42, pleaded guilty to intimidation of a victim in a criminal case, a first-degree misdemeanor. The charge was for Stober trying to solicit an inmate at the Putnam County jail to go after the victims in his case to try to influence their testimony prior to sentencing.

Stober had been convicted of three counts of gross sexual imposition and one count each of importuning and sexual battery.

Stober sought out girls at the high school where he taught and coached for nearly 20 years to fulfill his own sexual desires. Testimony and evidence at the trial showed Stober sent thousands of text messages to girls, first to open up a line of communication. Once a girl responded, he would start flirting then advance to requests for sex.

The trail of victims stretched back to the beginning of Stoberís career. They were either students at Kalida High School or girls he coached.

Assistant Putnam County Prosecutor Todd Schroeder said Stober promised an inmate compensation in exchange for locating the victims and trying to coerce them into changing their version of the facts.
