LIMA - The FBI is in charge of the investigation into an alleged case of human trafficking involving a young girl last week, Lima police officials said.

The case started when a girl was rescued by Lima Police and other officials during an enforcement blitz dubbed “Operation Shield” on May 7.

Authorities refused to say where the girl was found or what her status is now. They also would not discuss details of her rescue.

FBI Agent Vicki Anderson issued a standard statement: “These matters are under investigation, and we can’t make any further comments.”
