FORT JENNINGS - Putnam County Sheriff Michael Chandler warned residents not to fall for a scam claiming a debit card from Fort Jennings Bank had been temporarily deactivated.

The recorded message asked people to send a text message with their account number and expiration date from their debit card in order to activate the card. That is a scam, Chandler warned.

If someone released the information, he should contact the bank immediately to change your account information and keep the account safe.

If your account has been tampered with and money taken from the account with an unauthorized purchase, call the Putnam County Sheriff's Office at 419-523-3208 to report the crime.
