FORT JENNINGS - Jennings schools officials are warning local businesses that they are not currently soliciting money by phone for the school.

Superintendent Nick Langhals said he received a call from an Ottoville business last week reporting that someone had called the business saying she was soliciting money for the school to purchase T-shirts for cheerleaders to throw out at basketball games.

“We get these every once in awhile,” Langhals said, urging residents and businesses to ask a lot of questions when getting such calls. “We have tried to inform local businesses that we are not soliciting by phone right now.”

The caller, saying she represented the company that would produce the shirts, was from Texas. Langhals has contacted the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
