LIMA - A Lima woman reported an attempted arson at her home early Monday morning.

The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. at 843 N. Elizabeth St., Lima.

An unknown person set two small fires in the driveway and in the yard close to the home, said Toby Jenkins, fire investigator with the Lima Fire Department. Because of the snow, neither of the fires spread to the residence.

“The damage was pretty minimal,” Jenkins said.

Lima Police officers followed footprints leading away from the scene and found a red gasoline can and rubbing alcohol. Both items were taken into evidence.

Lima Police reported Andrea Smith, 36, Chris Williams, 25, and two children, ages 10 and 12, were inside the home at the time. No one was hurt.

Jenkins said the incident is under investigation.
