Josh Thompson of Elida, Angela Fackler of Kenton and Rebecca Wharton were among 16 student athletes to receive a $750 scholarships from the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association.The awards are presented to children of coaches and are in honor of Hank Miller, who coached many sports during his 39 years at Canton McKinley High School.Thompson was a three-year letterman in baseball and a two-year letterman in football and basketball. He also was on the Western Buckeye League Sportmanship Committee for four years. Thompson is a freshman at Bowling Green State University and is the son of Mark and Jami Thompson of Elida. His dad coaches baseball at Elida.Fackler received eight varsity letters during her high school career in basketball, track and volleyball. She was on the honor roll all four years at Kenton and is a freshman at The Ohio State University in Lima. She is the daughter of Brent and Diane Fackler of Kenton. Her dad coaches baseball at Kenton.Wharton is a four-year letter winner in basketball and a three-year letter winner in volleyball. She plays for Blackhawk Christian High School in Fort Wayne and her father, Jim, coaches baseball at Crestview High School.
