LIMA — At least two girls involved in a fight inside Lima Senior High School last week will be charged, a police investigator said Thursday.

The charges police are looking at filing are assault and causing a disturbance in a school, both misdemeanors, said Lima Police Juvenile Investigator Bob Stoodt.

The fight happened inside the school on the morning of Nov. 28, but it began with an argument on Facebook the night before, Stoodt said.

Six girls, ranging from sophomores to a senior, were involved in the fight. After arriving at school, one group of girls sought out the other girls in a classroom, and a fight started, Stoodt said.

A counselor and a security officer at the school were injured breaking up the fight. The injuries were minor, such as bruises, and they have returned to their jobs, Stoodt said.

“No teachers were directly assaulted,” he said.

After the first fight, a secondary fight broke out between the girls in the hallway which had to be separated, Stoodt said.

Two of the girls, both believed to be principal players in the incident, remain in custody, and the other four were released the next day. All six have been suspended from school, Stoodt said.

The school was placed on lockdown following the incident, he said.
