FINDLAYOfficials have started filling sandbags in case melting snow and rain in the forecast causes flooding on a river that has repeatedly spilled over its banks its recent years.Flooding along the Blanchard River previously made a mess of Findlay. Safety Director Jim Barker said the sandbags and extra sand will be available if they're needed Sunday or Monday. Forecasters say the city could get more than an inch of rainfall, days after sleet and snowstorms hit the region.Flood prevention became a top priority in Findlay after a catastrophic flood in August 2007 forced hundreds of residents to evacuate.The National Weather Service also is warning that rain and melting snow could cause flooding from the Auglaize River in Fort Jennings by Tuesday afternoon. A flash flood warnings was issued Saturday afternoon for the region.
