One dead, one injured in Lima shooting

LIMA ó One man died and another man suffered injuries during a Wednesday night shooting on Limaís east side.

Officers responded to the 700 block of Dingledine Avenue at 11:58 p.m. Wednesday, where they found the victim of a gunshot wound. They later learned there was another gunshot victim at Lima Memorial Health System.

Tavares Meeks, 29, died from his injuries. His autopsy is scheduled for today at the Lucas County Coronerís Office.

Police believe the two gunshot victims were together when the incident occurred.

Detectives requested the publicís assistance for any information on the incident. They should call the Lima Police Department at 419-227-4444, Det. Clark at 419-221-5293 or Crime Stoppers at 419-229-7867.

Late in the day Thursday, Police Lt. Jim Baker said the department had no additional information about the shooting and said detectives were continuing to work the case.
