3 busted for workers' comp fraud

COLUMBUS - Three area people were convicted of workers’ compensation fraud charges.

Bruce VanSchoyck, of Lima, pleaded guilty Feb. 19 to a misdemeanor count of workers compensation fraud for receiving benefits while working. He was on total disability benefits and investigators found he worked for Buckeye Transcor/B&C Logistics hauling campers from Ohio to various other states. He was ordered to pay $2,944 in restitution.

Richard Ketcham, of Lima, pleaded guilty Feb. 27 to a felony count of workers’ compensation fraud for working while receiving benefits. He was running a photography business while receiving benefits. He was ordered to pay $26,716 in restitution.

Mark Mefferd, of Convoy, pleaded guilty Feb. 28 to one count of felony workers’ compensation fraud. He was working for Buckeye Landscaping while receiving disability benefits. He is scheduled to be sentenced April 19.
